ASHWOOD ‘KNOCKS OUT’ THE COMPETITION AT 2015 EKKA

Following their Best of Breed win with Ashwood Cara 1 at the Sydney Royal this year, the 2015 Royal Queensland Show (the Ekka) has yet again proved to be a happy hunting ground for us. The 9 head Ashwood took to Brisbane came away with no less than 8 out the 10 broad ribbons on offerout of a strong field of 37 Devon entries from 6 Stud breeders. BEST OF BREED CARA RETIRES FROM SHOW CIRCUIT

Ashwood Cara 1 has achieved much in her few years of travelling to Sydney (Royal Easter Show) and Brisbane (Ekka) and her appearances always resulted in broad ribbons, initially as Reserve Champion Female (to Ashwood Snowbell 2) then in 2014 finally pushing Ashwood Snowbell 2 aside to take Champion Female at The Royal Queensland Show (Ekka). She crowned her many achievements with Best of Breed at the 2015 Royal Easter Show. With a record like that she is now resting well on her laurels and breeding up more quality Devons for the Ashwood herd.

2014 Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) – 8 head, 12 ribbons

Following our success at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney this year we have capitalised with an especially satisfying day out at the Ekka last Friday. Our 8 head won 6 firsts and 2 seconds, with Ashwood Betony 2 going on to win Junior Champion Heifer, Ashwood Snowbell 2 took out Reserve Senior Champion Cow and the very beautiful Ashwood Cara 1 won Senior Champion Cow and Grand Champion Cow. Our boys also did well with Ashwood Jeu d’Esprit winning his Junior Bull Class and Ashwood Highlander winning his Senior Bull Class.
