ASHWOOD ‘KNOCKS OUT’ THE COMPETITION AT 2015 EKKA

Following their Best of Breed win with Ashwood Cara 1 at the Sydney Royal this year,

the 2015 Royal Queensland Show (the Ekka) has yet again proved to be a happy hunting ground for us.

 

The 9 head Ashwood took to Brisbane came away with no less than 8 out the 10 broad ribbons on offerout of a strong field of 37 Devon entries from 6 Stud breeders. The broad ribbon winners were:

 

  • Junior Champion Heifer (Ashwood Betty 2)
  • Reserve Junior Champion Heifer (Ashwood Cara 10, daughter of our multiple broad ribbon and Sydney Best of Breed winner Ashwood Cara 1)
  • Junior Champion Bull (Ashwood Knockout)
  • Reserve Junior Champion Bull (Ashwood Krakatoa)
  • Reserve Senior Champion Cow (Ashwood Snowbell 2)
  • Senior Champion Bull (Ashwood Jeud’Esprit)
  • Reserve Senior Champion Bull (Ashwood Jack).

And in the final battle for Grand Champion Bull, Junior Champion Ashwood Knockout took the top prize.

 
 
 
 
 

To crown those successes off, Ashwood also won all four Group Classes (Pair of Females, Pair of Bulls, Breeder’s Group and Progeny Stakes).

 

The Judge (Trevor Young) was high in his praise of all of the Ashwood cattle, declaring them “clear winners” on the day.

Senior Champion Ashwood Jeud’Esprit and Reserve Senior Champion Ashwood Jack are among the 13 bulls on offer at the Ashwood/Bongalabi Open Day & Sale at Bulahdelah on Sunday 23rd August.
